Meet Our Normandy Team

Our World War II historians and specialist guides are French natives who live in Normandy and share a deeply personal connection to the region’s history. Combining academic expertise with a genuine passion for preserving the past, they have interviewed more than 1,000 World War II veterans—often traveling throughout the United States during the off-season to record their experiences and honor the men and women who helped liberate France.

Our Normandy team leader also created the World War II documentary They Won’t Die Twice: Omaha Beach—D-Day, which was featured on French television.

What makes this team so exceptional is its ability to bring history to life with both knowledge and humanity. Our guides connect the events and facts of World War II with the personal accounts entrusted to them by the veterans they interviewed. Many of those veterans became cherished friends; although many have since passed away, our team remains devoted to keeping their memories alive by sharing their stories with travelers who come to Normandy.

Through their thoughtful and engaging storytelling, the beaches, battlefields, and cemeteries become more than historic sites—they become places where courage, sacrifice, and individual lives are remembered.

Two Full Days Devoted to D-Day History

Normandy’s wartime history deserves time, context, and thoughtful storytelling. Rather than attempting to cover the landing beaches in a single rushed visit, we dedicate two full days to the sites, museums, beaches, and cemeteries connected to D-Day.

Our Normandy-based specialist guides are passionate World War II historians who have interviewed more than 1,000 veterans to help preserve their experiences. By connecting the historical record with personal accounts, they bring greater depth and humanity to the places we visit and ensure that these stories continue to be remembered.

A Small Group of Just 8-10 Guests

Our limited group size creates a relaxed, personal experience with more opportunities to ask questions, engage with our guides, and enjoy each visit without feeling rushed.

One Hotel, Thoughtfully Located

Stay all four nights at our selected boutique hotel in the center of Bayeux. Unpack once and enjoy the freedom to explore the town’s restaurants, boutiques, historic streets, and famous tapestry during your free time.

Normandy Beyond the Battlefields

The journey also introduces you to Normandy’s artistic, architectural, and culinary heritage—from Monet’s gardens and Mont Saint-Michel to a family orchard producing the region’s traditional cider, pommeau, and calvados.

Your 5-day Normandy Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1 — Paris Pick-Up, Giverny & Arrival in Bayeux

Included meals: Lunch and dinner

Meet the group at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport at 10:00 a.m. and begin the journey to Normandy.

Our first visit is Giverny, where Claude Monet lived and worked for more than 40 years. Explore his colorful home, flower-filled gardens, and celebrated water garden—the landscapes that inspired some of his most recognizable paintings.

Enjoy a locally inspired lunch before continuing to Bayeux. After checking in at our centrally located boutique hotel, you’ll have time to stroll through town or relax before gathering for a welcome cocktail and dinner at one of our favorite local gourmet restaurants.

Day 2 — D-Day Landing Beaches & World War II History

Included meals: Breakfast and lunch

Set out with our specialist Normandy guiding team for the first of two full days devoted to World War II and the D-Day landings.

Visits include Pointe du Hoc, where U.S. Army Rangers scaled the cliffs on June 6, 1944; Omaha Beach; the Normandy American Cemetery; and Arromanches, where the remains of the ingenious Allied artificial harbor can still be seen offshore.

Along the way, our guides provide the historical context and personal stories that connect these important places to the people who experienced them.

Lunch is included at a local brasserie near the beaches. Return to Bayeux in the early evening, with dinner and the remainder of the evening at your leisure. We’ll be happy to offer restaurant recommendations.

Day 3 — A Second Full Day Exploring the D-Day Sites

Included meals: Breakfast and lunch

After breakfast, continue your exploration of Normandy’s World War II history with a second full day of guided visits. This additional day allows time for a broader and more meaningful understanding of the landing beaches, museums, military sites, and cemeteries associated with the Battle of Normandy.

Return to Bayeux in the early evening. Dinner is independent, giving you another opportunity to enjoy one of the town’s restaurants.

Day 4 — Mont Saint-Michel

Included meals: Breakfast and dinner

Travel to the spectacular Mont Saint-Michel, one of France’s most unforgettable landmarks. Enter through its medieval ramparts, wander its narrow lanes, and visit the abbey rising dramatically above the surrounding bay.

Lunch is independent at Mont Saint-Michel, allowing you to choose what appeals to you. Return to Bayeux in the late afternoon, then gather in the evening for a gourmet farewell dinner celebrating your time together in Normandy.

Day 5 — Family Orchard, Calvados Tasting & Return to Paris

Included meals: Breakfast and brunch

Begin the final day with a behind-the-scenes visit to a local family producer of Normandy cider, pommeau, and calvados. Discover how these regional specialties are made, enjoy a private tasting, and sit down to a gourmet brunch at the family orchard.

Afterward, depart for Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport and nearby airport hotels, arriving at approximately 4:00 p.m.

Air conditioning is uncommon in Normandy’s traditional hotels. Our boutique hotel in Bayeux does not have air conditioning. We want guests to be aware of this detail before booking so they can select the experience that is right for them.
