Provence Tour Guest Testimonial —

“My husband and I just returned from our second trip with OTBP, and we were once again thrilled with our experience…I would suggest anyone considering a trip with Christy should check out her FB page to see pictures and comments from the dozens upon dozens of happy travellers. Since there’s nothing like first hand knowledge, please let me share with you our experiences with this top quality small tour group. We went on the Loire Valley trip a few years ago and it was wonderful. There was a nice mixture of chateaux touring, plenty of opportunities for great shopping (including attending the small markets in two charming towns), free time during the day, and a few blockbuster events. Christy has an impressive number of contacts in France, and she offers some great experiences. We took a breathtaking evening hot air balloon ride over the Loire River followed by champagne in a field (and preceded by a picnic of local goodies). Another highlight was cooking and dining with a Michelin starred chef and his lovely wife in their home. Oh, and for you fellow foodies out there, this chef is also a Bocuse d’Or winner. Now I don’t know how the rest of you spend your time, but for us these were once in a lifetime events.

Another point I’d like to make is the quality of the accommodations. We have been very happy with the two hotels we’ve stayed in, and we love the fact that we stay put for the whole tour. This is a big deal for us – the only reason we haven’t done a food and wine themed tour in Spain is that we can’t find one that doesn’t involve a new hotel every few days. Packing and moving around is not my idea of a fun way to spend our precious time in Europe.

Now for the Provence tour, from which we’ve just returned. St Remy, the town we stayed in, could not be more charming. There are a number of towns that Christy could have picked for a home base, and this beauty of a town personifies that South of France feeling. This tour offers more amazing experiences that we would not have found on our own. One of the highlights is a full day in a lovely seaside town, complete with an elegant lunch on a hillside restaurant overlooking the Mediterannean Sea. Lunch was followed by a boat tour exploring the fjords along the coast… Christy doesn’t promise a “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous” experience. It was just nice to get out on the water and see this picturesque town from there.

Another highlight was cooking with a celebrity chef in a gorgeous, eclectic farmhouse followed by lunch in the garden. Our entire group (all 11 of us) had the greatest time! This chef is so excited to share his love of cooking, and his enthusiasm is infectious! Not to mention the food was absolutely incredible! Simple, but in the hands of a great chef, truly memorable. And we had plenty of wine, too …Christy provides more than other foodie tours. Of course it won’t be unlimited and it won’t be the rare and expensive vintages, but it was good quality and complemented the meals perfectly. And speaking of the food, I would challenge anyone with complaints in this area. Now I don’t usually get too excited about chicken, but at our first lunch and again later in the week at dinner, we had the best chicken I’ve ever had in my life. It was so good that as soon as we got home I went to the gourmet grocery and ponied up $16 for an organic, free range chicken. It was really good, but not quite as good as what we had in France. I love being inspired by great chefs!

This trip also featured lovely walks, a gourmet picnic in an olive grove, exploring historic and charming small villages, and just kicking back and enjoying France with some awesome people!

One last thing…. one of the best things about small group travel is the people you meet. Spending 6 days with interesting people from all over the world with similar interests is in itself a highlight. Add to that funny, charming, and informative guides and you have a combination that can’t be beat!

I hope this report encourages anyone considering a trip with this company to contact Christy directly. She’s a pro and will answer any questions you may have. ” — Mike and Pam Curtis – Dallas, TXHave been on 2 OTBP Tours – Provence, Loire Valley
