• WALKERS – Van support is provided for walks to offer maximum flexibility to all guests. Walker rating = Easy to Moderate.
• NON-WALKERS: Shuttle to/from all activities, excursions, meals and visits. NON-Walker rating = 100% Easy.

While our Provence tour itinerary is designed equally for walkers and non-walkers, please note that due to the nature of the activities and excursions of our Provence Tour itineraries, our tours are not suitable for anyone with serious mobility issues. Even if opting out of a proposed walk and participating only in our proposed guided cultural options, guests need to be capable of leisure walking, i.e. walking in villages and towns, walking through historic sites and monuments without assistance, and using stairs at cultural sites, museums, and historical monuments.

Day 1—A Warm Welcome to Provence!

The Provence tour itinerary begins with a meet-and-greet by our team, transfer to the hotel as a group and check-in, welcome cocktails, a privately hosted gourmet dinner at friend, and Master Chef Catherine’s Provencal home—D

As you arrive in the sun-kissed land of poppies, lavender, sunflowers, and vineyards, your adventure begins with a heartfelt meet-and-greet by our welcoming guides. Choose your arrival option: a complimentary transfer from Marseille airport at 1 PM or Avignon TGV rail station at 4 PM.

Once we arrive at our exquisite boutique hotel—an intimate gem owned by our dear friend Karine—you’ll settle in and unpack your bags. This charming retreat, celebrated by Conde Nast, is your home for the next six blissful days, allowing you to immerse yourself in the magic of Provence without the hassle of hotel hopping.

Day 1 and Day 6 Complimentary Scheduled Group Transfer Details

• TOUR BEGINS:  On Day 1, we provide 2 scheduled transfer options to meet-up with our team to begin the tour. We provide a 1:00 PM scheduled group meet-up and transfer from Marseille airport to our hotel in St. Remy-de-Provence and a 4:00 PM scheduled group meet-up and transfer from Avignon TGV Rail Station to our hotel.
• TOUR ENDS:  On Day 6, we provide 2 scheduled transfer options for departure from the tour. We provide a scheduled group transfer from our hotel in St. Remy-de-Provence back to the Avignon TGV rail station. Guests arrive at the Avignon TGV rail station at 10 AM. We also provide a scheduled group transfer from our hotel in St. Remy-de-Provence back to Marseille airport. Guests arrive at the airport at noon.

The tour information package we send you 30 days before the tour departure date includes specific details on where to meet your tour guides at each scheduled transfer location (the rail station and airport) on Day 1.

Welcome aperitif & dinner at our friend and Master Chef Catherine’s home

EVENING & DINNER: As the sun sets, join us for a delightful Welcome Cocktail Hour, where laughter and stories mingle like the aromas of fresh herbs from the garden during our welcome orientation of the week’s activities. The evening culminates in a privately hosted gourmet dinner at the enchanting Mas (Provencal farmhouse) of our dear friend, Chef Catherine. Here, you’ll savor a Provencal feast that dances on your palate, setting the perfect tone for the journey ahead.

• Dietary Requests & Food Allergies—We accommodate ALL dietary requests and preferences (including vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian, etc.) and ALL food allergies (gluten, shellfish, etc.) while ensuring a fantastic foodie experience for all tour guests with restrictions and/or allergies.

Day 2 – The Artistry of Les Alpilles & Arles

Cultural walk of St. Remy-de-Provence followed by time to shop at the weekly artisan, arts & crafts market, gourmet lunch in the countryside, afternoon in Arles: Roman ruins, art & Provençal charm and Van Gogh’s presence in Arles – B, L

BREAKFAST. After a restful night, awaken to the gentle sounds of Provence and enjoy a leisurely breakfast. 

St. Remy-de-Provence art, artisan, & crafts market day

MORNING: Our first adventure begins in St. Remy-de-Provence, where the lively artisan market awaits—bursting with vibrant colors and the spirit of local craftsmanship. Stroll through the charming streets, guided by our expert team, and soak in the rich history of this picturesque town. 

LUNCH: We relish a gourmet lunch together in the countryside at a celebrity hideaway owned by our local friends, adored by foodies, and made famous by Cookbook author Patricia Wells.

After lunch, we journey to the Roman town of ARLES.

Arles: A Journey Through History, Art & Provençal Charm

Step into the timeless beauty of Arles, a city where ancient Rome, Provençal traditions, and artistic inspiration have intertwined for centuries. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site for its remarkable Roman monuments, Arles was also home to Vincent van Gogh from 1888 to 1889, a transformative period during which he created more than 300 paintings and drawings inspired by the town’s unique light and landscapes.

Begin your discovery with a guided cultural introduction through the historic heart of Arles, then enjoy time at leisure with your pass to explore the city’s Roman ruins, museums, and charming old town at your own pace. To make the most of your visit, delight in a private Tuk-tuk ride through the streets of Arles, offering a relaxed and memorable way to admire the city’s hidden corners, iconic landmarks, and centuries of history from a unique perspective.

DINNER: As the sun sets, the evening is yours to explore St. Remy’s culinary scene, with our guides ready to share their favorite recommendations and make reservations just for you. Breakfast and Lunch are Included Today.

DAY 3 – The Luberon Valley and Art & Lavender Dreams in the Luberon, Sault and Valensole Plateau

April, May, September, October: The Luberon: Gordes & Roussillon village-to-village walk (Designed for guests interested in the walking aspect of the tour), gourmet lunch at one of our favorite gems of a restaurant in the Luberon, cultural visits in Gordes & Roussillon, wine tasting at celebrity winery – B, L

End of May through early August: Lavender season – Lavender fields of Goult & the morning market, Valensole plateau: Visit lavender capital Sault – walk lavender fields featured in National Geographic (Designed for guests interested in the walking aspect of the tour), gourmet lunch amidst the lavender, essential oil distillery tour, End the day with a visit to a hidden gem – B, L

After breakfast, prepare for a day that will captivate your senses. Depending on the season, we will either wander through the Luberon’s golden hues and ochre landscapes or be enveloped by the intoxicating scent of lavender fields near Goult and on the Valensole plateau.

MORNING:  Select An Option – For Both Walkers & Non-Walkers Alike…

• FOR WALKERS – Embark on a guided “LUBERON VALLEY VILLAGE TO VILLAGE WALK” through the stunning landscapes of Gordes and Roussillon, where every step reveals a postcard-worthy view. This walk is designed for our guests interested in the walking aspect and options of the tour – with time for walkers to also explore each village – Gordes and Roussillon. 
• FOR NON-WALKERS – Shuttle from village to village and enjoy guided cultural tours of hilltop villages of the “Golden Stone Village” of Gordes and “Artist Ochre Cliff Village” of Roussillon … Enjoy guided cultural tours of these historic and charming hilltop villages.
• Both walkers and non-walkers will have time to visit both villages.

Lavender, Lavender and More Lavender…

SUMMER TOURS –  LAVENDER SEASON (end of May through August)

MORNING:  We depart for the enchanting Luberon village of Goult and its lavender fields, where you’ll have time to wander its charming morning arts & crafts market and soak up the authentic Provençal atmosphere. From there, we continue to Sault—Provence’s celebrated lavender capital—for a gourmet lunch surrounded by spectacular lavender fields, followed by time to explore the village and take in its breathtaking panoramic views of rolling purple landscapes.

This afternoon, choose the experience that suits you best:

For Walkers & Non-Walkers Alike – During lavender season, enjoy our unforgettable Lavender Trail Experience, where vibrant fields of lavender stretch to the horizon. We’ll also visit our friends’ family-run lavender farm and distillery to discover the fascinating journey from flower to fragrant essential oil, with plenty of opportunities for memorable photos along the way.

• FOR WALKERS – Our traditional Luberon village-to-village walk is replaced by our signature Lavender Trail Walk. Stroll along scenic paths through fragrant lavender fields experiencing one of the region’s most iconic landscapes at its seasonal peak.

• FOR NON-WALKERS – Relax and enjoy a scenic shuttle to several of the region’s most beautiful lavender fields, with ample time to photograph the endless sea of purple blooms and immerse yourself in the culture, beauty, and charm of Provence without the walk.

• Our final stop today is a hidden gem that seamlessly blends fine winemaking with an unexpected touch of Hollywood magic. Sample the estate’s acclaimed wines, then take time to explore an extraordinary display of film memorabilia—an unforgettable experience found nowhere else on our journey.

DINNER: Dinner on your own. As the day winds down, enjoy another evening in St. Remy, where culinary delights await your discovery. Your guides will provide recommendations and make reservations. Breakfast & Lunch Included Today.

Walking Rating for PROVENCE Village to Village Walk (April, May, September, October)

• WALKERS — Our guided “Luberon Valley Village to Village” walk in the Luberon is rated EASY to MODERATE. It involves walking on vineyards and country trails through picturesque landscapes, French country architecture, lavender and sunflower fields with various beautiful villages in the background. It is ideal for those who walk regularly in the morning or afternoon. The walk lasts approximately 1.5-2 hours, depending on stops made for photo-ops.
• NON-WALKERS — EASY: Shuttle to each of our beautiful hilltop villages and gourmet hosted lunch.

Walking Rating for PROVENCE Walk during the lavender season (end of May through early August)

• FOR WALKERS — Our “Lavender Trail Walk” and is rated EASY to MODERATE. Enjoy spectacular, guided walking amidst some of the most beautiful landscapes of Provence, walking through magical fields of lavender. The countryside is gorgeous with incredible color and aromas and offers the perfect setting for a walking experience. This walk is ideal for those who regularly walk in the morning or afternoon. Walk length – approximately 1.5-2 hrs. depending on stops made for photo-ops.
• FOR NON-WALKERS — EASY: Take our shuttle to lavender fields to experience and photograph the endless fields of lavender and enjoy non-walking cultural experiences with your guide.

Day 4 – Seaside Serenity in Cassis

A Day Along the Mediterranean Sea coast in Cassis’s terraced, wine-producing village. Enjoy a one-hour Calanques cruise (Roman fjords), partake in an optional visit to an artisan perfumery and weekly market, Try Cassis wines with us, swim in the Med, gourmet dinner together – B, D

• MORNING:  We set off for the Mediterranean village of Cassis. Here, the terraced vineyards cascade down to the azure sea, creating a breathtaking backdrop for our day’s adventures.
• Begin with a guided walking tour of Cassis, exploring its charming port and the vibrant weekly market filled with local treasures. 
• Next, embark on a one-hour cruise through the stunning Calanques, where dramatic cliffs meet the shimmering Mediterranean sea. 

LUNCH: For those who wish, join your guides to partake in a tasting of the region’s iconic Pastis and Cassis wines, before savoring an independent lunch along the picturesque port.

AFTERNOON – Artisan perfumery & savon de Marseille

• Artisan Option for interested guests:  Meet and visit our artisan friends at their local perfumery, where the fragrance of Provence envelops you in aromas reflective of the region. Learn about the family’s perfume-making trade and history, tour the workshop, and sample perfumes and hand-made soaps made exclusively at their Artisan “Perfumery”.
• As the afternoon unfolds, relish leisure time to explore or simply soak up the sun on the beach before our return to St. Remy.
• Time permitting: We stop at our favorite local “Savon de Marseille” soap artisan.

Day 5 – A Toast to the Wines of Côtes de Rhône & The Beauty of the Alpilles

OPTION 1 – Become a Winemaker for the Morning

BLENDING TIME… Create your very own personalized wine during our exclusive, hands-on blending workshop in the renowned Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Côtes du Rhône wine country.

We depart for our friends’ family-owned winery, where you’ll enjoy an immersive experience as a guest “maître de chai” (cellar master). Discover the art and tradition behind winemaking through a private winery visit, VIP tasting, and interactive blending workshop where you’ll combine the estate’s distinctive grape varieties to create your own signature cuvée.

No previous wine experience is necessary—just curiosity, creativity, and a love for discovering something new. At the end of the experience, each guest takes home a bottle of their own handcrafted masterpiece—a truly unique souvenir of Provence.

OPTION 2 – Scenic Alpilles Hiking Adventure from Saint-Rémy-de-Provence

For those who prefer to immerse themselves in Provence’s natural beauty, enjoy a guided early morning hike through the spectacular Alpilles mountain range, one of the region’s most captivating and untouched landscapes.

Departing from Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, we’ll follow scenic trails surrounded by fragrant herbs, olive groves, limestone cliffs, and sweeping countryside vistas. Along the way, discover hidden corners of this magical landscape while taking in unforgettable panoramic views stretching across the Provençal countryside.

Walking Rating for the Morning Hike Option in the Alpilles

• The walk is rated MODERATE. Enjoy spectacular, guided walking amidst some of the most beautiful landscapes of Provence, walking through olive groves, vineyards, and across the Alpilles. The vistas from the trail are breathtaking. This walk is ideal for those who love a true hike and are accustomed to elevation gain and loose gravel trails. There is some scrambling towards the end of the trail. Walk length – approximately 3 hrs.

Our tours are active, immersive experiences that are not suitable for anyone with any type of mobility issue. Guests choosing to participate in the non-walking options of the tour need to be able to participate in daily leisure walking in villages, at markets, and throughout the tour in general. NON-WALKERS: Throughout the tour, you are shuttled to/from all activities, excursions, meals, and visits.
