Paris Holiday Season Festivities – Tis’ the Season!

Europe’s chic cultural capital, dressed in holiday lights, carpet lined sidewalks and decorated trees, dazzles visitors with the magic of the holidays! Paris Holiday Season Festivities are in full swing – Tis’ the Season! Artisan made chocolate sculptures animate the chocolate shop windows as various holiday characters. Aromas of freshly baked holiday pastries available at the local boulangeries (bakeries) draw in passersby. The vapors of street vendors roasting chestnuts scent the city streets. Paris, France is bustling with holiday shoppers and tourists relishing in the joys of the season!

Any time of the year is considered a wonderful time to explore and discover the city of light. Yet, my ultimate favorite period to enjoy this historically rich, fashion centre remains the month of December. The festivities of the Christmas holiday wrap Paris in a cloak of exceptional color, celebration and gastronomical excess. And there is always a good reason to enjoy a glass of French bubbly no matter the hour of the day — hint, hint, it’s on sale all-day long at the “Marche de Noel” (Christmas market)! The Christmas market stalls line the sidewalks from the Place de la Concorde all the way to the Champs-Elysées. Department stores transform their grand showcase windows into fantastic animated movie like scenes to entertain shoppers of all ages. Museums, city sites and monuments, as well as brasseries and cafes, all sport a whimsical air of holiday cheer. Everything feels truly magical in December, like a month long vacation for the soul!

To share the spirit of the annual wave of holiday cheer in Paris this 2015 season, we’ve included our “Paris Holiday Season Festivities – Tis’ The Season” photo gallery that includes some of our favorite photos from our mid-December visit.
